Brexit to hit timber exports to Britain - 30th October 2018
Irish timber exporters may be unable to service the British market on a just-in-time basis if border checks are introduced, the head of Glennon Brothers, one of the country's major timber producers, has warned.
Joint managing director Mike Glennon said the timber industry had been "overshadowed by agriculture" in Brexit negotiations and that the sector is one of the most exposed to Britain's exit from the European Union. Full article

The upturn in the UK economy has been a real boon for Irish sawmills, many of which regard their closest neighbour as the key export destination for their products. So much so that, for Glennon Brothers, for example, there is little differentiation in market terms.
“We believe the sawn timber market has consolidated into a 'British Isles' market," said Mike Glennon, Glennon Brothers' joint managing director. "You can see that with the Grafton Group, and Saint-Gobain, with their interests in the UK and Ireland. The buying groups, like Fortis, and other independents, also have links either side of the water, so we treat it as one market" Full Article
Glennon Brothers responds to partial merger between Coillte and Bord na Mona - 30th June 2014
Leading timber processing firm, Glennon Brothers, has grave concerns regarding the partial merger between Coillte and Bord na Mona, especially the impact the joint venture involvement in biomass, will have on the forest product sector.
Glennon Brothers welcomes the announcement by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, that Coillte will focus on its core activities in forestry. However, Glennon Brothers believes the joint venture’s plan to procure biomass from both Coillte and private sources, and use this to supply the market (including Coillte’s panel board companies and Bord na Móna’s power station), will damage the entire forest product sector.Full Article

During the visit, the Minister met with Pat and Mike Glennon, and viewed the progress of the €12 million capital investment programme in value added processing on the site. Glennon Brothers celebrate €10 million sales to France - 1st July 2012
Timber processing firm Glennon Brothers has announced that it has reached the milestone figure of €10 million sales into the French market. At a ceremony on Sunday the 1st of July, Glennon Brothers joint managing director, Mike Glennon presented Mr. Jean Louis Camici, of PBM Import, with a piece of Irish bog oak sculpture, to mark this occasion.
The ceremony, which was witnessed by Mr. Richard Bruton T.D., Minister for Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation, and Mr. Paul Kavanagh, Irish Ambassador to France, took place in Rennes during the Enterprise Ireland trade mission to France, being led by the minister. Full article
